SEO & The Title Tag
The title tag is quite possibly one of your stongest allies.
The HTML title tag, shown in your HTML code as:
<title>Your Page Title</title>
appears in most search engines as your "link".
It is also used to estimate the relevance of your page in search results.
For Example:
If you have a page about Blue Widgets and you name the page "My Company Name" or "My Company Name's Widgets",
a search engine has to find your page and decide how relevant it is to the search. In a search for Blue
Widgets, both your page content and the title tag will carry weight in determining how relevant your
page is. Your "My Company Name" page will show in up in the results, but much lower than if the
title tag was "My Company - New Blue Widgets".
You should try and include you "most important" keywords in your title tag. Remember, each page is evaluated individually by search engines, so each page should have a unique title with it's own unique keywords.
